How to use Compress PDF
Our PDF compressor uses Ghostscript to reduce file size intelligently. Image-heavy PDFs are downsampled to your chosen DPI target, while text and vector content stay crisp. The medium setting (300 DPI) is ideal for email and web sharing. Use high for print-quality output.

Frequently asked questions
How much can I reduce a PDF file size?+
Typical reduction is 40–80% for PDFs with embedded images. PDFs that are already optimised or contain mostly text may shrink by less than 10%.
Will compressing reduce the quality?+
The medium setting (default) targets 300 DPI — indistinguishable from the original on screen and for most printing. Use 'High' if you need print-press quality.
Is my PDF safe? Who can see it?+
Your PDF is uploaded directly to our storage over HTTPS and automatically deleted after 1 hour. We do not read, share, or retain your files.
What is the maximum file size?+
Free users can compress PDFs up to 200 MB. The compressed output is typically much smaller.
